We have had the joy of getting to work with some great vendors over the years, and our clients are always asking us who we like to work with? Well here is the best of the best that we have worked with over the years!!!

Venues

Nashville Wedding Venues:

1. Belle Meade Plantation, this place is by far one of the most beautiful mansions in the Nashville area. Great for the couples who want a very traditional "Gone with the Wind" ceremony and reception.

2. Cheekwood lots of gardens, and lots of space. Predominately for outside ceremonies and receptions.

3. The Factory, located in downtown Franklin, TN, it is a huge urban space great for the bride who wants that urban, and modern look.

Paducah Wedding Venues:

1. Linden Plantation, we love working here. The huge staircase and great lighting at this venue is really what sets it apart. Huge windows, a even larger chandelier, and great staff make this venue a must for brides.

2. The Carson Center, huge. Thats the word for the Carson Center, lots of space, it is one of the few venues in Paducah that is able to host a large reception and wedding. They have two areas to choose from, outside on there balcony over looking the river, and inside for a more traditional reception.

Southern Illinois Venues:

1. Blue Sky Vineyard, if we could shoot a wedding here every weekend, I would never work anywhere else. The Blue Sky Vineyard is by far our favorite venue to work at, ever! Huge open spaces, vineyards that flow as far as the eye can see, Tuscan inspired rooming, and buildings, and the best wine I have ever tasted. They have a large reception area, a huge waterfall located right next to where you can have your ceremony at, and the best view, a huge lake you can view right outside your reception windows!

Videographers

1. S&W Productions, Terry and Linda are fantastic to work with, as photographers Kristin and I often dread working with videographers, most are pushy and in your way the whole day, NOT Terry and Linda. They work in coordination with us to help capture your wedding day, in a way that is simply great!

2. 2duce2, Eugene and Heather are very unique in the way that they capture your wedding day, it is predominately very photo-journalistic in nature. They work great with photographers, and help to make your day, as a whole, very unique.

I thought it was hilarious when Britney and Stephen told me that they would joke with their friends and family about wanting to name their son Monster Truck Rally. They kept the rouse going for a while so its a funny joke between them now.

I recently had the chance to go to Centennial Park, and almost freeze to death, just kidding. It was very cold though, in the 30's, and I shot the amazing Chris and Amanda's engagement pictures! Nashville Wedding Photography | Sara & Jeremy, and the stable wedding!

I recently had a chance to shoot the wedding of Sara and Jeremy. Talk about a great couple. The venue was a very unusual place for a wedding, it was a turkey farm. The great thing about it was that it had an event space/stable toward the rear of the farm.

This was the first time I have ever had a chance to shoot at an actual farm, talk about cool!

The groomsmen thought that it would be funny to pretend they had lost the ring, and couldn't find it. Great acting, they should be in hollywood!

Usually the bride and the groom are nice to each other and don't smear cake everywhere, Sara and Jeremy were the exact opposite. They practically bathed in the cake. :-)

So Deacon came by the studio so we could get some 1 year shots of him. Check this little guy out he is adorable. He was a little hesitant to smile for me, but I coaxed it out of him eventually!

I picked a lot of black and white images for the sneak peek, I guess that I am just liking B&W this week. I go through passes...don't ask...lol.

So I got a call last Tuesday from Chef Jeff Henderson's assistant. Jeff was looking for someone to do some publicity shots of him speaking and of his book signing.

Ashley and Stephen came all the way from Illinois for their engagement session. The weather was perfect, so we took advantage of it, and shot a Centennial Park.

Tiffany, and Andi got married at the UAW hall in Spring Hill, TN. Talk about a huge venue, this places dance floor was as large as some of the venue sizes of places in Nashville.

They also rented out Rippavilla, a huge mansion and venue also in Spring Hill. Let me tell you, I can't wait to shoot to there again, so brides get on it and book it already! :-)

Calling all Photograhers!!!

Ok so for the longest time we have been talking about how we are going to start blogging about how we accomplish some of the shots that we do from the sessions. Starting next week is going to be one of our first ones. I will post about three shots and let you know the camera settings, take pictures of where we had our lights set, and what they were set at, that kind of thing. We will then post a new session every week, so check back every week!

THIS NEXT PART IS BIG! We need all the photographers who follow our blog to let us know if there is an interest in a lighting, post-production(photoshop/lightroom), and basic/advanced camera technique CLASS?

WE NEED COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK. If we don't receive a limited number of inquiries or responses we probably won't offer the classes. So comment and let is know what you all think? The classes will run around $100-$150 per session, and will probably last anywhere from 4-6 hours.

Sara, and Jordan had their ceremony at the amazing Renee's Event Center, which is awesome by the way. They have this huge red barn that we were able to get some shots with, and they turned out great, we even had a little fun with Jordan and some bunny ears...lol.

So we found out that Molly and Jason are huge Predators fans. (To be honest I've never even seen a hockey game, live or on TV...I know I'm a big loser.)

So we went downtown to the Sommet Center, and got a ton of pictures there, and then went to the walkover bridge and finished up as the sun was setting, the pictures turned out amazing!

So we are going to try out adding video of sessions before too long. One reason to add the video is for other photographers to learn from, teaching others is something that we are excited and inspired to do. The other reason is for clients to see what a session will be like before they have one done, so its not such a surprise the day of.

So here is our beautiful daughter Ella Katherine, but we plan on calling her Ella Kate. She had her first session of atleast a million to come on Monday. We had about 20 bows that we wanted her to wear, but she only let us put a couple on before she said, "uhm, no."

When I spoke to Chris about the wedding the first thing he said was "They were crazy about each other and madly in love!" Lane Photography is Pregnant?

Yep you read that right. Lane Photography is pregnant, well maybe not the studio, but my wife is atleast, and boy has this pregnancy been fun.

This will be our second child, and for those of you who don't have children let me say first off, children are by far the most wonderful thing in the world, and the most life changing thing all at the same time.

I am thankful for the love that my son, Hayden Lane has for me, it really is unconditional. I can't wait for Ella to get here! So Ella Katherine is the name Kristin and I chose, and I like it, alot.

So I am remarkably grateful for my children that I have been blessed with, and I hope that everyone else feels as blessed about their kids too!

Ok, so I know that I haven't exactly stayed up on the blog. We are about to start a new process where we "sneak-peek" clients images to them on the blog, and on facebook! Clients will be able to sneak-peek after a week. We decided to do this so that clients could be able to see some of the work after a week instead of the two weeks it typically takes to get them on the website.

If any of you know of Gray Photography (www.grayphotograph.com), you know that their work is full of drama, and GREAT LIGHTING! I went to their IN-CAMERA lighting seminar this past weekend and it was so much fun.

I have used off-camera flash for a while, but really just wanted to learn how to speed up the shooting process, and work faster on site, and the class really helped with that.

Ok, so I said that we would start teaching how we do some of the crazy things we shoot, so here is the debut post!

Last week I finally got the chance to shoot something I have been looking forward to for a while, a commerical shoot for Sin City Fight Gear. Basically think Affliction, without having to sell your first born to buy a shirt. ;-) Check out their website here: www.sincityfightgear.com

They have some great clothing to choose from. Enough about that on to the shoot.

My model was Katie. I didn't want to have to pack around a ton of gear, which is basically the way I shoot anyways, all flashes off camera, and atleast 2 Canon 580EX flashes.

Here is the gear that I had for the shoot:

2- 580Ex Flashes

1- Apollo Softbox

Multiple Gels

Large White/Silver Reflector

40d Camera

Alien Bees Flash Syncs

So for this shot here are the details:

I have a blue gel'd 580EX to the left of Katie, and the other 580EX with the softbox is to the left (her right). I put both the flashes on Manual, and the main on 1/4, and the blue gel'd one on 1/2. The camera settings were shutter-1/160, iso 100, f/3.5.

I basically just moved the soft box around, some on the left, some on the right. Basically just playing with it, till I got the light the way I wanted it.

Ok, so I joined an online site that is designed to help brides choose all their wedding vendors without having to go to 10 different sites its called www.tennesseebridal.com

Its such a great site for brides to plan their wedding, you can find caterers, venues, florists, and of course photographers, otherwise why would we would be on there?

Check it out if you get a chance especially if you are trying to plan for your wedding, it will make things simpler for you, and allow you to spend more time doing things other than planning for your wedding!

Nashville Baby Photography | Ephram is 6 months old already?

Ephram turned 6 months old a couple of weeks ago, so it was time to do another shoot. We had just gotten into the new studio in Lenox Village so Ephram got to be the first one to break in the new studio!

We had fun even though Ephram got a little cranky toward the end, I stole his other hats from him, and he let me know he didn't appreciate that...lol!

When Angie saw the photos from her first senior session (from an un-named photography company, we will be nice and not hurt anyones feelings) her mom said she cried. She then called us and she did anything but cry when she saw these photos!

Amber had a great personality, she was so worried about something going wrong, I was able to assure her that everything was going to be ok, and we were able to get some great shots! We were outside for about an hour, luckily it was somewhat warm, but still she had to bear the cold, and she got some great photos for her suffering...lol!
